Puri: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Chandanpur Police in Odisha;s Puri district arrested three inter-district drug peddlers and seized 157 gram of brown sugar, valued at around Rs 1.62 lakh, on Saturday.
Speaking to the media, Puri SP Prateek Singh praised the Chandanpur police and Sadar SDPO for their swift action, noting that the arrests followed vigilant tracking and a well-executed raid. “The trio was nabbed while supplying brown sugar to some locals at Mahilpur Square,” he said.
The SP identified those arrested as Pradeep Kumar Panda, Litu Pradhan and Niranjan Parida, all residents of Chandanpur. “Two motorcycles, 3 mobile phones, 157 gram of brown sugar and Rs 1.63 lakh in cash were seized from them. We suspect that they had procured the contraband from Khurda. Further investigation is underway to bust the nexus and others involvement in the racket. Efforts are on to crack such supply chains,” he added.
