Bengaluru: Police have detained three minors, aged between 14 and 15, for the alleged gang-rape of a 13-year-old girl in Hubli, police said, as quoted by India Today.
The incident occurred while the girl’s parents were away. The three boys, who reside in the same locality, allegedly took the minor to an abandoned area. The report claims that they sexually assaulted the girl in the deserted place.
A case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in Hubli.
“Two of the boys are high school students, while the third appears to be a school dropout. The girl’s parents reported that the boys had threatened her, claiming they had recorded a video of the assault,” the Hubli commissioner said, reported India Today.
A similar case was reported in UP, where a six-year-old girl was gang-raped and murdered in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, according to the report. The accused allegedly threw the child from a rooftop after the assault on Jan 2 to conceal their identity, the report states.
She was rushed to the Community Health Centre Sikandrabad. But doctors declared her dead.
