3 MPs From Odisha Participating In IPU Assembly In Bahrain

Bhubaneswar:  Three MPs from Odisha – Bhartruhari Mahatab, Sasmit Patra and Aparajita Sarangi – are participating in the 146th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly being held at Manama, Bahrain.

While Mahtab and Patra are Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MPs, Aparajita happens to be BJP Lok Sabah member from Bhubaneswar.

Mahtab represents Cuttack in Lok Sabha, while Patra is a member of Rajya Sabha.

It may be noted that Aparajita was elected as a member to the executive committee of the IPU  in the election held at Kigali, Rwanda last year. She represents India in the 15-member executive committed of IPU.

Sasmit Patra has been nominated for the fourth consecutive time to represent Indian at the 146th IPU Assembly, sources said.

IPU is a global platform comprising 178 Parliaments from across the world and is the highest global platform of parliamentary discourse and dialogue.

The 146th IPU Assembly delegation from India is being led by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
