Bhubaneswar: In a major surge in COVID cases, as many as three places in the capital city reported more than 90 patients in 24 hours.
According to Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), 1148 COVID positive cases were reported from 9 am of Thursday to 9 am of Friday against 1055 in previous 24 hours ending at 9 am on Thursday, 803 on Wednesday, 710 on Tuesday, 619 cases on Monday and 574 cases on Sunday.
Of the total new cases, 1094 patients are local contacts while 54 are from quarantine.
Of the local contact cases, the highest 99 cases are from Khandagiri, followed by 98 from Nayapalli, 95 from Patia, 90 from Chandrasekharpur, 88 from Old Town and 37 from Laxmi Sagar.
As many as 208 patients recovered from the disease while there was no casualty during the period.
The active cases went up to 6,492 while total 1,30,982 people have been infected by the virus so far.
