Bhubaneswar: As many as 3 places recorded temperature of 43 degree Celsius or more in the state as 16 places reported 40 degree Celsius or more on Friday.
According to evening bulletin of regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Baripada was the hottest place in the state with 43.4 degree Celsius. It was followed by Sonepur with 43.2 degree and Balangir 43 degree Celsius on the day. Sonepur had reported 44.2 and 43.9 degree Celsius on Thursday and Wednesday respectively.
The other places which recorded 40 degree Celsius or more are Angul (42.9), Jharsuguda (42.7), Keonjhar (40.3), Sambalpur (41.8), Sundargarh (42.0), Hirakud (40.6), Talcher (41.6), Bhawanipatna (40.8), Titlagarh (41.8), Malkangiri (40), Boudh (42.5), Paralakhemundi (41) and Bhadrak (40).
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack registered 38.2 and 39 degree Celsius respectively. Seaside town Gopalpur recorded the lowest temperature at 30.2 degree Celsius.
The IMD has forecast that no major change in maximum temperature (day temperature) is likely in the state during next 5 days. Maximum temperature will be more than 40 degree Celsius at many places and above normal by 2 to 3 degree at a few places in interior Odisha during the period.
