Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has set up three receiving-cum-screening centres at three entrance points to the Odisha capital.
These three transit points are Tapoban School at Khandagiri for people coming from Khurda, Krupajal Engineering College near Uttara Chhak for those returning from Puri and Ashram School near Kochilei Haat, Rasulgarh, for receiving returnees from Cuttack. These have been functioning since May 5.
After registering themselves and going through thermal screening, the returnees belonging to BMC limit are referred to home quarantine or institutional quarantine or paid quarantine, BMC sources said.
The civic body also pastes quarantine stickers on houses of the returnees in case of home quarantine.
Besides, other district authorities are contacted to arrange transport for the returnees of their respective districts. This is a 24 hour service facility under three ZDCs of BMC.
Returnees, who could not go to his/her native district or town, are staying at the transit centre to whom food is being provided. Commisionerate Police and BMC security are also looking after the centres, the sources added.
