Bhubaneswar: Over 30,000 local devotees, staff and students of KISS and KIIT gathered to take part in the Bahuda Yatra on Wednesday.
Bahuda Yatra, the return journey of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra, was held peacefully at Shrivanikshetra in KISS.
Rituals associated with this auspicious occasion like Mangala Arati, Mailama, Tadapalagi, Rosha Homa, Abakasha, Surya Pooja, Dwarapala Pooja commenced early in the morning as per the rituals followed by Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannath Temple of Shrikshetra, Puri.
Dr Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT & KISS, observed the holy ritual of Chherapahanra, which was followed by Pahandi Bije of the three deities in the afternoon.
The pulling of three chariots from Shri Gundicha Temple to Shrivanikshetra of KISS started at 4 pm, with female devotees pulling Subhadra’s chariot.
Several other programmes like Bhajana Samaroh by different musical groups from Odisha and other states, Prabachana and other cultural programmes were organised between Ratha Yatra and Bahuda Yatra here.
