33 Picnickers Injured In Bus-Truck Collision In Angul
Angul: At least 33 passengers were injured, two of them seriously, when a private bus carrying a group of picnickers collided head-on with a truck near Gotamara on NH-149 under Banarpal police limits in Odisha’s Angul district late on Tuesday.
According to sources, 60 people from Thakurahat area of Kendrapara district were on a picnic trip to Vedvyas in Rourkela in a private bus when the driver while trying to overtake a vehicle collided head-on with a speeding truck near Gotamara.
Following information, Banarpal police rushed to the spot and admitted the injured to the district headquarters hospital in Angul.
The incident took place at around 1.30 am.
Informing the media, Additional District Medical Officer (ADMO) Laxmi Narayan Bisoyee said 28 patients have been discharged from his hospital after first-aid. “We had admitted five patients to the hospital of whom the condition of the two is critical. We will shift the two patients to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, if necessary,” he added.
According to Manoranjan Patra, one of the injured passengers, there were 60 picnickers in the bus of which 20 were women and 15 were children.
