Bhubaneswar: As Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 19th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme on Monday, over 34.98 lakh farmers from Odisha will be benefitted through the disbursement.
While over 9.8 crore farmers across the country will be benefitted through the 19th instalment release, over 34.98 lakh from Odisha will receive direct financial assistance. This was stated by Principal Secretary, Agriculture, Arabinda Padhee.
Noting that many farmers in Odisha are joining the PM-KISAN scheme, he said recent efforts have led to a significant rise in participation. Padhee also highlighted a notable increase of over 3.43 lakh farmers compared to last year’s disbursement.
“At least 34, 98,147 farmers from Odisha benefitted from the PM-KISAN scheme this year. There is an additional increase of 3,43,447 beneficiaries this year, as compared to the previous year,” the senior official said.
The increase in the number of farmers has been attributed to a special drive to enroll farmers who were rejected or left out due to various reasons last year. More farmers can now register through the designated portal to avail of the benefit, he said.
In order to ensure that no farmer is left out, those still not included in the scheme have been encouraged to submit their applications through the established portal. This move is part of the government’s efforts to support farmers financially and boost the agriculture sector.
This initiative by PM Modi aims to ensure inclusive support for farmers across the state, enhancing their livelihood and improving agricultural productivity. The PM-KISAN scheme, which provides direct financial support to farmers, has been crucial for enhancing the livelihoods of small and marginal farmers across India.
