Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 vaccine will be administered to 37,076 health workers in 436 sessions in Odisha on the fifth day on Thursday, said director, Health and Family Welfare Bijay Panigrahi.
Stating that about 89% of 7946 health workers were vaccinated in 93 sessions on Wednesday, he said a total of 68,743 health workers in the state have been injected so far.
Talking about the drive in Bhubaneswar, he said while 1674 health workers were vaccinated in 17 sessions on Wednesday which is 118 per cent, total 5849 of them took the shots between January 16 and 20.
“Out of about 1.92 lakh health workers to be vaccinated in the first phase, the vaccine has been administered to 1,05,819 and the remaining 86,181 will be covered by January 25. The number of sessions to vaccinate the rest health workers will be finalised after January 25,” Panigrahi added.
He further said as there is no report of any side effects of the vaccine, the vaccination across the state is going on smoothly.
On the arrival of the second consignment of Covaxin vaccines, Panigrahi said while the state received 20,000 doses earlier, next consignment is expected in the coming week.
