375 Post Offices Have Computerised Reserved Ticket Booking Counters: Railway Minister
Bhubaneswar: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Friday said reserved tickets in trains can be booked at computerised Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters in 375 post offices across the country.
In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, the minister said the facility of the computerised PRS counters in post offices was launched in 2007. So far, such counters have been opened at 3962 locations.
Besides, reserved tickets can be booked on the website of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) and through mobile app. Similarly, physical as well as e-tickets are now available through government authorised agents like e-ticketing agents of IRCTC and Yatri Ticket Suvidha Kendra (YTSK), Vaishnaw said.
On unreserved tickets, he said those can be booked at 9983 Unreserved Ticketing system (UTS) counters of railway stations. Besides, 2737 Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMS) and Cash-coin & Smart Card operated (Versatile) Ticket Vending Machine (CoTVMs) have been installed for the purpose.
The Indian Railways also has the facility to book unreserved tickets through UTSon mobile app and authorised agents like Jansadharan Ticket Booking Sewaks (JTBS), Yatri Ticket Suvidha Kendra (YTSK), Station Ticket Booking Agents (STBA).
