Ajmer: Four coaches and the engine of superfast passenger train, Sabarmati-Agra Cantt Express, derailed near Madar railway station in Rajasthan’s Ajmer on the intervening night of Sunday-Monday.
North Western Railways CPRO Shashi Kiran informed that the derailment took place around 1.04 am. “The train was en route to Agra from Sabarmati derailed near the home signal in Ajmer’s Madar. Four general coaches and the engine of the train had derailed. There has been no loss of life in this incident. However, those who suffered minor injuries were soon taken to the nearby hospitals,” he said.
The CPRO further said rescue teams including Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP) along with Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM) and senior officials soon reached the spot. “The down track was declared fit around 7 am. The movement of trains will soon become normal,” he said.
Six trains – Dee Jan Shatbdi, Ajmer-Agra Fort SF Express, Ajmer Jaipur Demu Special train, Haridwar Ajmer Tri Weekly Special, Jaipur-Marwar Jn Express and Marwar-Jaipur Jn Express, were cancelled due to the derailment, he added.
“There was no signal or technical failure. Two routes have been started. A three-member committee has been formed to investigate. The officers will investigate considering all the facts,” ANI quoted Ajmer Railway DRM Rajeev Dhankar as saying.
