Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Thursday arrested four government functionaries on bribery charges.
Those arrested include two health staffers of Parlakhemundi CDMO office in Gajapati – Jagdish Pattnaik (clerk) and Niranjan Nayak (peon), Kunja Bihari Rout, a health worker-cum-clerk of Muniguda CHC in Rayagada, and Narayan Prasad Lenka, a junior clerk posted in the office of Mahakalpada BEO in Kendrapada. They were apprehended by the anti-corruption agency the previous day.
A Vigilance release further informed that Rs 5.19 lakh was found in the table drawer of the CDMO office’s clerk, Jagdish Pattnaik, and another Rs 1.5 lakh from his official residence during the subsequent searches to ascertain whether he has accumulated assets disproportionate to his know sources of income. “The cash appears to be ill-gotten money. The clerk is being interrogated to ascertain the source of the same,” it added.
