Jajpur: At least four persons were critically injured in an explosion during the manufacturing of firecrackers at a village in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Thursday.
As per preliminary information, the incident took place at an illegal firecracker unit at Jalapura village under the jurisdiction of Sadar police station in the district.
The injured include two minors. The condition of two of the injured was stated to be critical, and they have been admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Jajpur for treatment. One of the four injured was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as his condition deteriorated.
Sources said the illegal firecracker unit was being run from a residential house. The house owner’s son was allegedly involved in manufacturing crackers. The explosion caused extensive damage to the building.
