Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai Police on Saturday arrested four members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, who were allegedly planning to attack Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s car at Panvel.
The four arrested, Dhananjay Tapesingh alias Ajay Kashyap, Gaurav Bhatia alias Nahvi, Vaspi Khan alias Waseem Chikna and Rizwan Khan alias Javed Khan, have been booked under Sections 120-B (Conspiracy) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of Indian Penal Code (IPC), Business Standard reported quoting police sources.
According to police, they were in touch with jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his younger brother Anmol Bishnoi.
On April 14, two bike-borne shooters, Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, fired multiple rounds outside Salman’s home Galaxy Apartments in Mumbai’s Bandra. They were arrested from Gujarat. Later, two more Sonu Bishnoi and Anuj Thapan, who allegedly delivered weapons to them were nabbed from Punjab.
Thapan allegedly hanged himself in a police lock-up on May 1.
The superstar’s security level has been elevated to Y-Plus since November 2022 due to threats from gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar.
