Rourkela: Four members of a family including two children from the city died in a road mishap in Jharkhand on Wednesday.
According to sources, Kanhiya Jain, his wife Rama Jain, their seven-year-old son Rishav Jain and three-year-old son Nitya Jain belonging to Civil Township in the city had gone to Raniganj in West Bengal and were returning in an SUV on the day. A young woman Vanshika accompanied the family while Vasisth Jain drove the vehicle.
When they reached Churagi in Torapa of Jharkhand, Vasisth lost control over the vehicle while trying to take a sharp turn. As a result, the vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a ditch.
The locals, who rushed to the spot for help, found all the occupants of the SUV trapped inside the mangled body of the vehicle. They had to cut it open with gas cutters and pull out the occupants.
By that time, the Jain couple and their children died died. Vasisth and Vanshika, who were seriously injured in the accident, were rushed to RIMS Hospital in Ranchi, the sources said.
