4 More Arrested In Panchayat Samiti Member’s Husband Murder Case In Odisha’s Balangir

Balangir: Police on Thursday arrested four more persons in connection with the alleged murder of husband of a Panchayat Samiti member.

The arrested persons have been forwarded to court, stated reports.

The husband of Bagdor panchayat Samiti member Loknath Biswal was shot dead in his house by some miscreants, Loknath revealed the names of the accused in his death bed.

A video recording of his words on the death bed has gone viral in social media. In the video, the slain BJD leader was seen naming five persons, who he said had had come to meet him. Basu, Badabudha and Nianta had shot at him, he said but could not take the names of two others.

According to sources, some persons had come to meet Loknath’s wife Banita, the newly-elected panchayat samiti member of Bagdor panchayat, at her house in Bagdor on Monday night.

Loknath, who was block president of the BJD’s farmers’ wing, opened the door and the miscreants shot at him from close range. Lokanath sustained bullet injuries in the chest and was rushed to Belapada hospital where he succumbed.

The number of arrests in the case has gone up to 7.
