4 Places Of Odisha Record Lowest Maximum Temperature In April

Bhubaneswar: With day temperature plummeting substantially in interior Odisha, as many as 4 towns in on Thursday recorded coolest day in April.

According to regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, Angul, Titlagarh, Sambalpur and Hirakud broke the all-time record of lowest maximum (day) temperature in the month of April on Thursday.

Titlagarh registered the lowest maximum temperature of 24 degree Celsius in the state. The western Odisha town had recorded the lowest day temperature of 28.5 degree on April 4, 2008 (Data record Since 1952).

Sambalpur city recorded 25.7 degree Celsius against 25.7 degree on April 7, 2008 (Data Since 1952); Hirakud 26.1 degree against 27.6 degree on April 22, 2023 (Data since 1973) and Angul 26.7 degree against 27.7 degree Celsius on April 6, 2008 (Data since 1921).

The IMD said due to interaction of middle and upper level dry westerlies with lower level moist air, widespread rain or thundershower with one or two spells of intense rainfall activity is very likely in some districts of interior Odisha during next 24 hours.

It has forecast Light to moderate rain/thundershowers at many places in the districts of Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Nawarangpur, and at a few places in Rayagada, Koraput, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj,
Sundargarh and at one or two places in the rest of Odisha.
