Bhopal: A 99-year-old lady was forced to stay on the road for two days after her four sons allegedly threw her out of the house a couple of months ago.
The incident came to light after the elderly resident from Ashok Nagar moved Bhopal district court last week. In the court, the woman sought Rs 10,000 as monthly maintenance from her sons to live respectfully till death.
According to the nonagenarian, she had six sons of whom the eldest died, while the youngest is differently-abled. The woman had been staying with the other four sons after her husband’s death in 2001. Among the four sons, two are in government service while two make a living from farming.
“After the death of my husband in 2001, my four sons encroached upon the whole property, including an 8-acre agricultural land and a house in Ashok Nagar. They cursed and harassed me. They starved me. I have been tortured physically and mentally for the past few years,” the elderly woman was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
