Bhubaneswar: Four Odia workers from Ganjam district, who were stranded in Oman, have safely returned to Odisha.
They arrived in Mumbai on Thursday by an Air India Express flight from Muscat and reached Berhampur on Friday by train from Mumbai.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed his gratitude to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, and the Indian Embassy in Oman for their efforts in facilitating the safe return of the workers.
After learning about the plight of these Odia workers through emails and various newspapers, the Chief Minister had immediately directed the Chief Resident Commissioner in New Delhi to take swift action for their rescue.
Following the Chief Minister’s instructions, the Chief Resident Commissioner coordinated with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Ambassador in Oman to ensure the workers’ safe return.
The Indian Embassy located the workers in Sohar, Oman, and maintained constant communication with them over the phone. The Embassy also arranged for their accommodation and food at a Gurudwara during their stay.
