Berhampur: A child died after falling into a huge container where curry was cooked for a community feast in a village of Odisha’s Ganjam district on Tuesday.
According to sources, the wife of Budha Sethi of Nagudu village under Buguda police station in the district died 10 days back. The old couple’s daughter, son-in-law and their 4-year-old grandson had come to attend the rituals to the village.
As per the tradition, the family was preparing food for the community feast on the day. At the time, the child went to the cooking place and accidentally fell into the huge container where the curry was prepared.
The family rushed the child, who has sustained critical burn injuries, to MKCG Medical College and Hospital at Berhampur. But the child succumbed during treatment, the sources said.
