Keonjhar: Around 40 people, mostly women and children, were injured after a pick-up van carrying them overturned near ITI Square at Banspal in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Sunday.
As per preliminary information, the mishap took place when the van was carrying around 50 people from Rada village of Pallahara block of Angul district to Tala Jagara village in Banspal block. Most of the victims were women and children.
The mishap took place apparently after the driver of the vehicle lost control over the wheels near a curve. As the van turned turtle, most of those on board sustained injuries.
The injured persons were immediately shifted to a hospital in Banspal for treatment. Ten of them who had sustained critical injuries were later shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) at Keonjhar.
After getting information, a police team visited the accident site and launched a probe.
