Kendrapada: Around 40 tourists have been stranded in the middle of a river as two boats carrying them developed technical snag in Bhitarkanika National Park in Odisha’s Kendrapada district.
According to sources, the National Park witnessed a large number of tourists on the day as it was Sunday. Around 40 of them had hired two mechanised boats to goa round the park in Kumbharia river.
While cruising along the river, both boats stopped moving as those developed mechanical problems. The passengers got panicked as they were surrounded by crocodiles in the river.
However, nobody has been injured in the incident and the boat operators informed the Forest department.
The Forest officials were taking steps to rescue the passengers from the two boats. They have deployed a boat to toe the two boats to a safe place, the sources said.
