Berhampur: Police on Tuesday arrested five persons in connection with the murder of four brothers, including a minor, at Pitala Chhak under Hinjili police station in Ganjam district.

The accused have been identified as Amiya Kumar Swain, the prime accused, Bahan Behera, Dipu Sethi, Chitrasen Sethi and Santosh Swain. All the five belong to Ramchandrapur village under Hinjili police limits.

According to reports, four brothers Sambhu Swain, Raja Swain, Pandab Swain, and their cousin Chandan Swain, were running a fast food shop at Pitala Chhak. On the fateful night, Amiya, Bahan and Sambhu engaged in a verbal duel after Sambhu opposed passing of lewd comments at customers.

Fearing that the situation would worsen, Sambhu called his brother Raja. This flared up the situation and a furious Amiya threatened to kill the brothers. Amiya left the spot only to return late in the night with weapons. Amiya and gang attacked the Swain brothers and fled from the spot, said Ganjam SP, Brajesh Ray.

Murder weapons including wooden handle of spade, iron rod and bamboo sticks have been recovered, the SP said and added another accused is still absconding.
