5 Killed In Separate Mishaps In Odisha
Cuttack/Jajpur/Dhenkanal: Road accidents claimed five lives while 13 others were injured in Cuttack, Jajpur and Dhenkanal districts on Tuesday.
Driver and helper of a container truck hit died after the vehicle was hit by an iron-laden stationary trawler on NH-16 near Bainchua village in Cuttack district. Fire personnel and police recovered the bodies from the mangled remains of the vehicle using gas cutter and sent those to SCB Medical College and Hospital for postmortem.
Similarly, one person died and 13 sustained injuries after a bus, carrying more than 50 tourists from Dum Dum in West Bengal to Puri, rammed into a truck on Brahmani river bridge near Jarka under Dharmasala police limits in Jajpur district. The deceased has been identified as the helper of the bus. The accident took place around 5 pm. Police admitted the injured to Dharmasala hospital for treatment and seized both the vehicles.
In Dhenkanal district, two persons died and one was injured when a tanker and a truck collided head-on on NH-55 near Baladiabandh Square. The critically injured helper was admitted to the district headquarters hospital.
