5-Member Odisha Team Leaves For Expedition To Mount Yunam

Bhubaneswar: A five-member team of Association of Adventure and Social  Activities (AASA) has left Bhubaneswar for Chandigarh to participate in an expedition to Mount Yunam in Himachal Pradesh.

The team members Anita Swain, Chinmay Moharana, Sasmita Pradhan, Devdutta Samantray and Ajit Kumar Padhi will participate in the expedition, organised by National Adventure Club (NAC), Chandigarh from September 15 to 30.

Everester and secretary, AASA Ganesh Ch Jena informed that Anita Swain and Chinmay Moharana have been selected by NAC as leaders of the expedition team. Ashok Mohanty, advisor of AASA and Jena have conveyed their good wishes to the participants.

With a height of 611 metre, Mount Yunam is located at far side of Himachal Pradesh where the mountains are terrifyingly rugged and sparse in greenery. It cannot be approached by vehicles. The highest motorable road of the state ends at Baralacha La, a few kms from the base camp of the peak.

The Himalayan trekkable peak is one of the favourites of adventure enthusiasts for trekking and climbing. It also helps in setting the groundwork for technical mountaineering.
