Bhubaneswar: A 5-member team of Odisha BJP will attend the party’s meet of eastern states at Guwahati in Assam on July 6.
The meeting, which is speculated to discuss the strategy for General Elections next year, will be attended by BJP’s state president Manmohan Samal, regional prabhari Sunil Bansal, state prabhari D Purandeswari, assistant prabhari Bijaypal Singh Tomar and organisational general secretary Manas Mohanty.
With the saffron party having won 8 out of 21 Lok Sabha seats from the state in 2019 elections, its Central leaders aspire to capture all the constituencies in coming elections. Upbeat about the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Odisha, state president Manmohan Samal exuded confidence of fulfilling the target.
“The BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi will come to power for successive third at the Centre in 2024. The party will also sweep Odisha and win all 21 seats,” he told the media persons.
In the state elections also Samal said the BJP will comfortably win majority considering the people’s dissatisfaction with the performance of BJD government.
According to political analysts, the meeting holds significance for Odisha BJP as it will focus on the party’s prospects in eastern states in next elections. Since the BJP did not fare well in these states except Odisha, the party may mobilise all its resources to bag as many seats as possible in the state, they added.
It may be noted that BJP had won 68 out of 142 Lok Sabha seats in these states in 2019. The BJP leaders of 12 eastern states including West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Asam, Manipur, Meghalay, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura will attend the meeting.
