Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 toll in Odisha touched 8,214 on Sunday with five more deaths being confirmed in the last 24 hours.
According to Health Department sources, two deaths have been reported from Bhubaneswar and one each from Cuttack, Ganjam and Jajpur districts.
Here are the details of the deceased after an audit:
1.A 84 years old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Post Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery.
2.A 64 years old female of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Hypertension.
3.A 32 years old male of Cuttack district.
4.A 45 years old female of Ganjam district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, Chronic Kidney Disease, Carcinoma Breast.
5.A 54 years old Male of Jajpur district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
Notably, Odisha has reported 6,330 COVID deaths during the second wave against 1,876 previous year.
There were 346 COVID deaths in the state in September. Similarly, 2,056 fatalities were registered in August, while July saw 1,903 deaths, June 1,272 and May 737, said sources in Health Department.
The second wave of the pandemic has claimed the lives of 40 children and adolescents in Odisha. As many as 13 of these deaths were reported between August 10 and 31.
