Bhubaneswar: With scorching heat sweeping Odisha, the state capital Bhubaneswar recorded 39 degree Celsius by 11.30 am on Saturday while the maximum day temp[erature stood at 39.2 degree Celsius in Jharsuguda.
While Keonjhar sizzled at 39 degree Celsius, three other places recorded 37 degree Celsius and above, according to the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar.
Sambalpur (38.4), Chandbali (38), Bhubaneswar (37.8) and Balasore (37). Similarly, Hirakud recored 36.8 degree Celsius, Gopalpur (33.8), Puri (33.6) and Paradip (32.2) by 11.30 am.
The western Odisha city of Sambalpur recorded 38.2 degree Celsius, while the temperature was 37.6 degree Celsius at Chandbali, 36.8 degree Celsius in Balasore, 36.4 degree at Hirakud, 35 degree in Gopalpur, 33.4 degree in Puri and 32.4 degree Celsius at Paradip
Heatwave is likely to scorch one or two places in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Angul, and Balasore during the next 24 hours while yellow warning has been Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Sonepur and Boudh on Saturday. The Met office has forecast light to moderate rain or thunderstorm activity at one or two places in Khurda, Cuttack and 14 other districts on Sunday.
