Gajapati: Parents of five students in Odisha’s Gajapati who have been deprived of appearing in the ongoing CBSE Class 10 examination, on Tuesday lodged a complaint with the District Collector and sought the intervention of the administration.
Parents alleged that the students, who studied in Smart Public School at Kashinagar, had been preparing for months but when the examination began, they were denied entry due to negligence and carelessness on the part of the school.
Families of the aggrieved students allege that the school authorities kept falsely assuring them that the students will be given admit cards but failed to complete necessary documentation and coordination with CBSE, leaving the children devastated on the day of the exam.
District Education Officer (DEO) Mayadhar Sahu stated, “We have received complaints regarding the negligence of Smart Public School. As per the information available, the school had affiliation up to Class 8 and not up to Class 10. An inquiry has been initiated into how it was teaching students beyond Class 8 and strict action will be taken.”
He said the principal of the school denies that these students were studying there but were only receiving tuitions from a teacher of the school.
Parents have demanded accountability from the school management, calling for immediate intervention by the district administration and CBSE authorities. They argue that the incident has jeopardised the academic future of the 5 students, who have already missed an exam and cannot appear in the Class 10 examinations being conducted as they have not received their admit cards.
