Berhampur: Months after the sensational alleged rape and murder of Nayagarh minor girl, another five-year-old is battling for life in Odisha’s Ganjam district.
The girl child of Sorala village under Golanthara police limits in Ganjam district was found in a pool of blood inside a closed room on Thursday.
As per reports, two persons attempted to kill the child by slitting her throat. The girl’s family members said she was playing near the house. On being informed by some locals, her family who was away at the time of the incident, rushed to the spot and rescued her in a critical condition.
Some villagers managed to nab one person from the spot, said the family members. The girl has been shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital where her condition is said to be critical. However, the exact reason behind the murder attempt is still unclear.
Police have detained one person and further investigation is on.
