50% Beds For COVID-19 Patients Occupied In Bhubaneswar: BMC
Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Tuesday ruled out any shortage of hospital beds or oxygen supply for COVID-19 patients in the city.
In a video message, BMC commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary said the municipal body has around 3,000 general beds, over 400 ICU beds and around 700 HDU (high dependency unit) beds for the COVID-19 patients.
Stating that every bed is connected with oxygen facility, Chaudhary said around 50% of beds are occupied at present. The BMC teams are engaged in providing best services to the patients in terms of beds, medicines and oxygen availability.
At present, 12,000 to 13,000 people are vaccinated per day and efforts are on to increase it, he added.
He further said though COVID-19 cases are rising and there is no declining trend, the BMC is prepared for any exigency.
Expressing his concern over people’s negligence towards following COVID-19 guidelines, the commissioner said the BMC is trying its best to enforce those by imposing penalty on violators and sealing establishments.
