Shimla: Nature’s fury continues in Himachal Pradesh, leading to more devastation and loss of lives.

As many as 51 people have died and 22 others are missing at the last count, as torrential rain, flash floods and landslides wreak havoc across the Himalayan state.

The State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), under Himachal government’s Revenue department, on Wednesday released a cumulative damage assessment report, covering the period from June 20 to July 1.

“A total of 51 deaths have been reported so far due to multiple causes, including flash floods, drowning, landslides, lightning strikes, and road accidents. The number of missing persons currently stands at 22, with Mandi district reporting the highest — 10 deaths and all 34 missing persons — primarily due to flash floods and cloudbursts,” SEOC stated.

The report further said that 103 people have been injured in monsoon-related incidents.

Pictures and videos of the devastation from different parts of Himachal have been shared on social media.
