Bhubaneswar: Agriculture minister Arun Sahu on Wednesday informed the members in the State Assembly that the Odisha government has provided financial assistance to 51,05,290 farmers under the KALIA scheme.
The minister, while replying to a question of the BJD member Chakramani Kanhar, said that as per the 2011 Census data, the number of the farmers and the landless agricultural labourers in the state was 32,79,769 and 24,20,540 respectively.
Stating that a total of 57.11 lakh small and marginal farmers and 39.30 lakh farmer families have applied for the KALIA scheme, Sahu said that the state government has decided to provide KALIA assistance to 75 lakh beneficiaries.
