New Delhi: An overnight addition of 52,509 positive cases took India’s COVID-19 tally past 19 lakh to 19,08,254 on Wednesday.
Two days after the tally crossed 18 lakh, the country’s tally raced past 19-lakh mark.
Also, 857 people succumbed to the virus infection in last 24 hours, taking the country’s death toll to 39,795, the Union Health Ministry informed.
The cumulative recovered cases (12,82,215) though have surpassed active cases by 6,95,971.
The fatality rate of cases dipped a bit to 2.09 per cent and was observed to be falling progressively, according to a Health Ministry release. Also, India’s recovery rate now stands at 67.19 per cent.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 2,14,84,402 samples have been tested for COVID-19 so far, including 6,19,652 on Monday. Also, ICMR has set up COVID-19 testing labs in Leh at 18,000 feet above sea level along with 1,366 labs across India.
