Bhubaneswar: The 54th Inter-IIT sports meet was inaugurated here on Sunday by Union Minister Pratap Chandra Sarangi and ace sprinter Dutee Chand.
The event is being co-hosted by IIT Bhubaneswar and IIT Kharagpur. The Bhubaneswar campus is organising events such as Badminton, Squash, Table-tennis, and Volleyball. About 800 students from 22 IITs are participating.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Sarangi dwelt at length about youth empowerment and highlighted the importance of sports to shape up one’s personality in a holistic manner, bringing a synergy between mind, body and spirit.
IIT Bhubaneswar director Prof R V Raja Kumar said the event is being held for the first time in history at a new generation IIT, which is IIT Bhubaneswar, along with a senior IIT.
