Cuttack: The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) on Tuesday said that it had decided against selling tickets of Gallery-7 at Barabati Stadium, which will host the one-day international match between India and West Indies next month.
“The 5300 tickets of Gallery No 7 will not be up for sale since the stand is not safe for spectators,” said OCA secretary Sanjay Behera after a review meeting by the RDC.
This gallery had suffered extensive damage during cyclone FANI in May this year. The OCA had shut it down temporarily after plaster fell off at several points. A CAD (computer-aided construction) agency and Agami Infra Home Pvt Ltd was asked to examine the condition of the gallery and submit a report, he said.
“The report revealed that it was not safe and accordingly we decided not to sell tickets for this gallery,” Behera said.
The OCA secretary further said that the online sale of the tickets will begin from December 5 and arrangements will be made for offline sale at the stadium counters for two days on December 19 and 20. The price of the tickets will be the same as those sold during the previous match, but GST will be added to it,” he added.
The day and night ODI will played at the stadium on December 22.
