Bhubaneswar: Six persons were arrested by the police in connection with the loot of a bank ATM equipment along with over Rs 21.77 lakh cash at Sriram Nagar in Bhubaneswar in January this year.
Notably, some miscreants had committed theft of the SBI ATM from its designated location at Sriram Nagar under the jurisdiction of Shree Lingaraj police station in the wee hours of January 24. The accused had reportedly uprooted the entire machine along with cash and transported it in an autorickshaw.
The culprit committed theft of cash to the tune of Rs 21,77,700/- and the cost of ATM equipment was approximately Rs- 1,70,000/-. Total loss of the bank was Rs-23,47,700, police said.
Based on the complaint lodged by the bank authorities, the police launched an investigation and arrested six persons for committing the crime.
The accused were identified as Vicky Debiprasad Mallia (29), Ramakanta Sahoo (20), Sagar Samal (24), Biren Rout (20), Akash Mohapatra (27), and Akash Mukharji (23).
Police seized several articles from the accused. The seized articles included two motorcycles, cash of Rs 1,60,000/-, two big size crowbar and hammer, the damaged ATM machine and a stolen autorickshaw used in the crime.
