Bhubaneswar: A six-day workshop on implementation of the national health programme commenced on Monday at the SUM Nursing College (SNC), SOA Deemed to be University’s faculty of nursing.
The workshop, an initiative of M.Sc. (Nursing) first-year students of the institute, is aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of the national health policies among upcoming healthcare professionals.
Panel discussions, simulations, demonstrations, lectures, counselling and group activities marked the inaugural programme of the workshop, which was graced by Prof. (Dr) Pusparaj Samantasinghar, Medical Superintendent of Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS) and SUM Hospital.
The theme of the event —‘ National Health Programme and Policy in Transforming Healthcare System in India – the Silent Revolution’ — was introduced by Prof. Tapati Saha, coordinator of the workshop.
Prof. (Dr) Samantasinghar spoke on the significance of national health programmes in improving public health outcomes and building a resilient healthcare framework.
SNC Dean Prof. Sasmita Das highlighted the relevance of the workshop in the backdrop of evolving healthcare landscape.
Prof. Saha emphasised the critical role of policy-making in enabling patients access equitable healthcare across the country.
Seventy-seven B.Sc. (Nursing) students of third year are actively participating in the workshop, where interactive methods are being used to promote critical thinking, skill development and collaborative learning.
