Berhampur: Six persons were reportedly injured in an explosion at a chemical factory in Odisha’s Ganjam on Friday.
The condition of three among them is stated to be critical.
According to sources, the explosion took place at Grasim Industries Ltd’s chemical plant in Ganjam where a sulphuric acid pipe burst at around 9:30 am.
The seriously injured were initial rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital and later shifted to a private hospital in Berhampur. The seriously injured have been identified as Kesabh Sahu, an instrumental engineer, Sasikant Maharana, a production engineer, and Rahul Yadav, a supervisor in the chemical factory. The acid split on their face and body causing grievous injury.
While the company is yet to issued a statement, locals are questioning safety measures at factory where a similar incident was reported earlier.
