Ahmedabad: Six persons were crushed to death after a goods ropeway collapsed near the famous Pavagadh Shaktipeeth in Gujarat’s Panchmahal district on Saturday afternoon.
According to preliminary information, the accident occurred due to the breaking of the rope.
The ropeway is being used to transport construction material to the ongoing construction site in Pavagadh.
Panchmahal collector Ajay Dahiya confirmed the death of six persons, including two liftmen and two workers. The mishap took place around 3.30 pm amid heavy rains.
Local police and fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot for rescue operations.
Eyewitnesses shared visuals and video clips from the site.

The district administration has launched a high-level investigation into the accident.
The Mahakali Mata, one of the 51 Shaktipeethas, is located atop the Pavagadh hill, and is thronged by lakhs of devotees every year.
