6 Pilgrims Die In Dumper-Van Crash In Rajasthan

Jaipur: Six pilgrims died when a dumper rammed into a van in which they were travelling to Khatu Shyam temple in Rajasthan’s Sikar district, at around 5 am on the Bundi bypass on Sunday.

While five of the deceased are Madan Nayak, Mangilal Nayak, Mahesh Nayak, Rajesh and Punam, the identity of one is yet to be ascertained.

According to reports, there were nine pilgrims from Madhya Pradesh’s Devas district in the van. The accident left four people, who were sitting in the rear of the vehicle, critically injured.

“Locals said that a gravel dumper coming from the wrong side near Lagdariya Bheruji on Jaipur four-lane in Hindoli police station area hit the Eco and claimed six lives. The driver of the accused vehicle fled after the incident,” ETV Bharat quoted Additional Superintendent of Police, Uma Sharma, as saying.

Teams have been formed to trace the unknown vehicle, she added.

Police said there was a significant delay in rescuing victims trapped inside the car. The delay led to severe blood loss, contributing to the higher number of casualties.
