Berhampur: A 60-year-old man was trampled to death by a herd of elephants while his nephew sustained injuries at Chikiti under Digapahandi Forest Range of Odisha’s Ganjam district.
The deceased has been identified as Brundaban Bindhani of Chandapur under Ramchandrapur panchayat. He died on the spot.
His nephew, Babuni Bindhani has been admitted in MKCG Medical College and Hospital here.
According to sources, forest officials were driving away the herd from the village when the two ventured out to see the elephants.
The herd was crossing the village road and the two were standing at the spot when the incident occurred.
Till reports last came in the herd of 14 elephants was positioned near a pond in the area.
