Ganga aarti Guinness record

Nashik: A large-scale ritual earned Nashik a place in the Guinness World Records.

The ceremony, held in the presence of President Droupadi Murmu, was part of the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh Mela, which began on October 31 after a flag-hoisting ceremony.

In the presence of President Droupadi Murmu, thousands of lamps were lit on the banks of the Godavari river in Maharashtra’s Nashik as 6,233 tribal devotees came together to perform aarti in a synchronised manner.

The aarti was performed simultaneously by tribal devotees from around 650 villages. Thousands of hands moved in unison along the riverbank as devotees raised their lamps to offer prayers to the Godavari.

The organisers received a registration certificate from Guinness World Records for the feat.

Besides President Murmu, Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar attended the ceremony.

The President’s office shared pictures from the record-creating aarti ceremony.

The Godavari aarti was among the main attractions of the celebrations, drawing thousands of participants from tribal communities across the region, and helping script another glorious chapter to the city’s religious and cultural legacy.
