66 On Board Mumbai-Goa Cruise Ship Contract COVID
Panaji: Sixty-six people on board the Mumbai-Goa Cordelia cruise ship have tested positive for COVID-19.
Samples of all 2000-odd passengers were tested after a crew member contracted the coronavirus disease, Goa’s Health minister Vishwajit Rane said on Monday.
“Out of 2000 samples tested from Cordelia cruise ship, 66 passengers tested positive for #COVID19 Respective collectors & MPT (Mormugao Port Trust) staff have been informed. The government will take appropriate measures to discuss disembarking of passengers,” Rane said.
Passengers who tested negative are waiting for further instructions before they can disembark.
The cruise ship, which left for Mumbai, berthed in Goa but was made to wait at the anchorage for a few hours on Sunday. Authorities then decided to ask the ship operators to get all 2,000-odd passengers tested.
