Cuttack: Seven persons were arrested in Cuttack on Friday for allegedly selling on black market tickets for the India-England ODI cricket match scheduled to be played at the Barabati Stadium in the city on February 9.
As per information, three men were selling as many as eight gallery tickets for the match at higher prices. They had even posted photos of the tickets online and sought response from prospective buyers.
When they were handing over the tickets to a person in Buxi Bazaar area of the city, a police team reached the spot and apprehended them. On being questioned, the person who had come to buy the tickets told the police that the accused were selling the tickets at much higher prices.
Sources said the police team seized the tickets, Rs 30,000 cash, mobile phones, and two motorcycles from the possession of the trio.
Similarly, the Cantonment Police arrested four persons for their alleged involvement in sale of match tickets on black market. They were selling tickets worth Rs 1100 for Rs 7000 each.
