Bhadrak: At least seven members of a family, including three women, were injured after armed robbers barged into their house and attacked them with sharp weapons at a village in Bhandaripokhari area of Odisha’s Bhadrak district. The robbers decamped with cash and gold ornaments.
As per information, the incident took place at Napanga village under the jurisdiction of Bhandaripokhari police station late on Wednesday night.
Around six masked dacoits broke into a house around midnight and looted cash and gold ornaments after attacking the family members.
Sources said the dacoits reportedly set loose the poultry kept in a coop outside the house. Hearing the birds’ noise, several family members opened the locked doors and stepped outside to check. The robbers then took advantage of the situation and barged into the house, and looted gold ornaments worth around Rs 5 to 6 lakhs besides cash, sources said.
The dacoits brandished weapons and injured around seven people, including three women, when they tried to resist the attempt.
After getting information about the incident, police personnel visited the site and launched an investigation.
The incident comes a few days after police busted a dacoity gang in Angul.
