Bhubaneswar: As many as 7 urban centres of the state reported temperature of 39 degree Celsius or more on Friday compared to 12 places on Thursday.
According to evening bulletin of the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD), 3 places registered temperature of 40 degree Celsius or more. Boudh was the hottest place in the state with 41 degree Celsius, followed by Balangir with 4o.5 and Titlagarh with 40 degree Celsius.
Talcher registered 39 degree Celsius, Bhawanipatna 39.5, Phulbani 39.1 and Sonepur 39.5 degree Celsius.
The Twin Cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack were relatively cooler with 36.3 and 36 degree Celsius respectively. Seaside town of Gopalpur recorded lowest temperature of 30.4 degree Celsius.
The IMD forecast that no major change in maximum temperature (day temperature) is likely in the state during next 4-5 days. It will be above normal by 2 to 3 degree Celsius at many places in interior Odisha during the period.
It also stated that light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapada Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati and Kalahandi districts in next 24 hours.
