Bhadrak: A minor girl was allegedly raped by her cousin in the absence of her parents in the district on Thursday.
According to a complaint filed by the 7-year-old girl’s father with police, while the victim was alone in her house under Nayakanidihi police limits of Basudevpur block, her cousin, identified as Vinay Sethi, told her to accompany him to play video game on his mobile phone.
Vinay reportedly took the girl to an isolated place and raped her. On her return to the house, the minor girl told about the incident to her mother. When her father went to the house of the accused and told his family about the misdeed of Vinay, he was beaten up by them.
Later, the girl’s father filed a complaint at Nayakanidihi police station regarding both the incidents. The police have registered a case under Pocso Act on the basis of the complaint and arrested Vinay and his two relatives.
The police have also recorded the statement of the minor girl and sent her to medical checkup, said IIC of the police station Sushant Mishra, adding that the arrested persons would be forwarded to court.
