72-Year-Old Kolkata Returnee Dies At Quarantine Centre In Odisha’s Bhadrak
Bhadrak: A 72-year-old man died at Bayabanapur quarantine centre in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Tuesday. He had returned from Kolkata the same day.
The deceased has been identified as Devendra Rout of Sarasada village.
According to sources, he went off to sleep after having snacks at 11.15 am and did not respond when the quarantine centre authorities tried to wake him up for lunch. A team of doctors from Bhandaripokhari reached the spot and examined him, following which they declared him dead.
Bhandaripokhari BDO Umesh Mallick said the deceased was suffering from heart-related ailments. “The body has been sent for autopsy,” he added.
Meanwhile, Bhandaripokhari police have registered a case of unnatural death.
Earlier, a migrant had collapsed and died at a quarantine centre in Ganjam district. He was later found to be corona positive.
A couple of migrants have also attempted suicide at these centres in the state.
